HOW TO PREPARE ENGLISH SECTION ????

HOW TO PREPARE ENGLISH SECTION ????

Hi friends.. I am Meenakshi .
I got so many mails and queries about preparing Eng section. so this post is for all of you.

To be very clear, learning is a continuous process. so you can't learn English in just one day. Be prepare for it from today.

Here's a quick rapid fire round........ :) Happy Reading :)

Q- What to read for English Section?
A- Its all depend on which exam you applied for- IBPS or SSC
For IBPS, i prefer you to start reading any English Newspaper acc. to ur choice because most part of bank eng section depends on that, if u don't learn rules it will not affect u much and now for SSC you have to go through a grammar book and have to cram lots of rules, focus or vocab from books they will help you more.

Q- Why to read newspaper?
A- It will help you to build vocab as well as help in building a strong GA. Trust me you don't have to cram all capsules becoz u already know some news and have some idea what's happening around you.

Q- Which newspaper to read?
A- You can read any newspaper of ur choice. It really doesn't matter which one you read but the thing matter is how u read it.Most banking aspirants prefer The Hindu as it has a very rich vocab part. For beginners The Times of India is preferred by experts or say my Eng guide .. though i never studied both ... i started reading Hindustan Times and i love reading it.(Rsn1- I want not too difficult not too easy, Rsn2- non-availability of The Hindu in starting,   Rsn3- High Cost in comparison later on :) )
After that i started liking it and don't wanna change just like that.

Q- Why prefer newspaper for vocab?
A- It will help you to prepare vocab part of day-to-day activities. And mostly vocab will get repeated bcz in all newspapers same news is there after some days if u follow any particular news you will learn vocab in different context which will help u to remember that. Morover, For ssc aspirants, just learn rules and search for rules in newspaper if u remember like usage of can, could , adjectives or anything.

Q- Which Grammar book to follow?
A- There are many books available . Most high rated books are SP Bakshi and Wren and Martin.
But as i already said nothing matters but ur wish to do that so just start with whatever book you have and learn a chapter a day nd keep going on till the exam.

Q- How to learn Vocab?
A- When you start reading newspaper, you will find words which you can't understand so look for them in dictionary and note their meaning and usage in a separate notebook. next day you will mostly find some news for that topic and most vocab get repeated so just try to remember the meaning and then go through ur notebook for the meaning . still note that word with that eg context . do this process untill you remember that word. and ofcourse revise ur notebook whenever u have time or atleast one page a day. for words i said it will repeat. eg like Maharashtra drought news will be there so there vocab is mostly same like that. hope u got my point.

Q- Which news to read in newspaper?
A- Though most prefers editorial for vocab. But for starting , just check all headlines and then follow first page if you are not in the habit of reading newspaper. editorial page is much rich in vocab part so follow the news first and then after some time jump for that page.

Point to be noted: I am not very good in rules so just ignore my mistakes if any. though i was able to score good bcz of the habit of reading newspaper.so keep learning.
